Plenty of innovations and new technologies in Algiers

Germany is the Guest of Honour 2010

Against the backdrop of massive investments into the Algerian energy, construction and industrial sectors and a huge increase in demand for power and electro-technology and building and industrial automation equipment and solutions, fairtrade organises Algeria’s 4th International Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation and Energy Trade Fair.

electro, Automation Industrielle & energy 2010, held for the first time under the patronage of the Algerian ministry of industry and investment promotion, is scheduled to take place at the Palais des Expositions Algiers - Safex from 14 to 17 March 2010. It is here, where more than 70 exhibitors from 11 countries present plenty of technological innovations.

This year, Germany is the Guest of Honour. This had been agreed by the CEO of the German-Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Algeria) in Algiers, Andreas Hergenröther, and Martin März, the managing director of fairtrade.

On the occasion of electro, automation industrielle & energy 2010, German exhibitors such as Dehn & Söhne, Heckert Solar, Hima, Igel Elektronik and Lapp Kabel (through Cablemat), Lenze, OBO Bettermann, Osram, Ritz and Siemens will present their innovations in the fields of modern, efficient and sustainable infrastructure in power transmission and distribution, building and industrial automation, electro-technology and lighting technology as a part of the German pavilion. In addition, AHK Algeria will be present with an information stand.

As exports of electrical machines and appliances to Algeria are on a constant upswing, more and more leading companies Aksa, Chint, Eaton, Ingelec Cevielec and TBEA Hengyang Transformer, as well as official country pavilions from China, Italy - through the Italian Institute for Trade Promotion ICE -, Spain – with the support of the association AFME - and Turkey have signed up for this year’s event and will display newest technologies.
Last but not least: in June 2009, fairtrade has “earned the ‘UFI Approved Event’ quality label for electro, automation industrielle & energy as certification of the highest level of professional exhibition standards” (UFI The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry). All statistical data of the event have been audited by KPMG Algeria. Media partners include L’Actuel, Arab Oil & Gas Magazine, BiLatéral, Crescendo and Elektrokent-Perpa Magazine.

Visiting electro, Automation Industrielle & energy 2010 represents an excellent opportunity for decision-makers from all sectors of the Algerian industry, public institutions and the services industry to get in contact with cutting-edge solutions first, and to meet new suppliers.

Massive investments and sharp increase of electro technology imports into Algeria

The second massive investment programme worth US$ 150 billion between 2010 and 2014 includes US $ 30 billion for the expansion of the electricity industry, US $ 63 billion for the oil and gas industry, US $ 1 billion for the erection of solar-hybrid and wind-energy power plants, and massive investments, which help to develop the country’s infrastructure and to improve the living conditions for the Algerians.

Whereas overall imports have increased from US $ 27.6 billion in 2007 to US $ 39.5 billion in 2008, a plus of 43%, the import figures for electro technology reflect the briskly rising demand especially in this sector. In 2008, imports of turbines for instance increased by 93 %, to US $ 667 million. During the first quarter of 2009, the increase even accounted for 160 % compared to the same period in 2008. Imports of electrical pumps gained 35 % in 2008, imports of cables increased by even 79 %.

To cope with this potential, Algeria's 4th International Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation and Energy Trade Fair provides an ideal business platform. For the upcoming event in 2010, the organisers are determined to add even more value to the show. To achieve this, fairtrade partners with the exhibitors and the chambers of commerce in order to target the hot potential quality visitors even more precisely by sending out personalised invitations.

Germany is the Guest of Honour of electro, automation industrielle & energy 2010. As one of Algeria’s most important trading partners, Germany’s presentation as Guest of Honour contributes to further develop this comfortable position. According to ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, German exports of electro-technology to Algeria reached 190.9 million euros in 2008, which marks an increase of 5 % compared to 2007. Between January and April 2009, overall electro-technology exports from Germany to Algeria went up by 25.0%, exports of automation technology increased by 71.9% and exports of energy technology by 287.7%.
